Copyright and purpose of this notice
Original content created and published by Petar Benković as part of the Benko Chess project is protected by copyright where and to the extent that it qualifies for copyright protection. This may include original texts, teaching materials, chess commentary and analysis, graphic work, the selection and organisation of content, as well as original software code, software solutions and user-interface elements developed for Benko Chess.
This notice does not create additional rights over material that is not protected by copyright. Its purpose is to identify original Benko Chess content clearly and explain the conditions for its use while respecting statutory exceptions and third-party rights.
PUBLIC
Public Benko Chess tools and software
Chess Dictionary, Benko Chess Clock, BC Program, Diagram Builder, PGN Viewer, FIDE Rating List, Tournament Calendar, Tournament Manager and other publicly available tools may be used through the Benko Chess website within their intended purpose.
Public availability of these tools does not place original Benko Chess source code, interfaces, design or other original software elements in the public domain or automatically make them open source. Unless a different licence is expressly stated for a particular component, public availability does not grant permission to copy, re-host, rebrand or distribute original Benko Chess elements as another product.
These tools form the development foundation of the future connected Benko Chess Studio environment.
MEMBERS
Classroom and private learning content
Lessons, exercises, homework, annotated games, coach analyses, training plans, private PGN materials and other content in the Members/Classroom system are intended exclusively for active authorised members to whom the relevant content has been assigned.
A Members account is personal and is not intended to be shared with other people. Private learning materials may not be forwarded, publicly posted, mass-downloaded or shared with third parties without prior permission from Benko Chess, except where a particular use is expressly authorised or permitted by applicable law.
Permitted use
- using public features and tools through the Benko Chess website in accordance with their intended purpose;
- sharing a normal link to a public Benko Chess page or tool;
- brief quotation of original text with clear attribution where such quotation is permitted by law;
- personal use of assigned Members materials for training and learning;
- use of third-party components in accordance with their licences and terms of use.
Without prior permission, you may not
- republish complete or substantial parts of original Benko Chess texts, teaching materials or other protected content as your own content;
- copy, re-host, rebrand or distribute original parts of Benko Chess programs, interfaces or software solutions as another product;
- remove or obscure authorship, copyright or licence notices;
- share private Members materials or provide other people with access to a Members account;
- mass-download or automatically extract content for redistribution, creation of copies or commercial exploitation.
Automated collection, scraping and AI/ML
Benko Chess does not grant general permission for automated mass collection of original content, scraping, dataset creation, republication of collected content, or use of original Benko Chess content for training or fine-tuning artificial-intelligence and machine-learning systems without prior written permission, except where such use is permitted by applicable law.
Public indexing for the purpose of discovering Benko Chess pages may be permitted in accordance with the rules published in robots.txt. Such indexing does not by itself grant permission to copy, reproduce or reuse the content for other purposes. robots.txt is a technical instruction to crawlers and does not replace copyright, authentication or other protective measures.
Third-party components, chess games and external data
Benko Chess does not claim copyright in third-party components, libraries, photographs, texts, games or other material merely because they are displayed or used on the website. Stockfish/Stockfish.js, open-source libraries and other third-party resources remain subject to the licences and terms of their respective authors and rights holders.
FIDE IDs, rating data, results, official rules and other factual or external data are not original Benko Chess authorship. Original Benko Chess texts, commentary and software elements, as well as the original selection, organisation and presentation of such data, may be protected to the extent permitted by law.
