Benko Chess Club

Group Training

Group training is designed for chess school students who want to learn through regular practice, practical play, exercises and positive interaction. Groups are formed according to age and playing strength, so every student can progress at an appropriate pace.

How does group training work?

Group training combines concise explanations, practical exercises, games and analysis. Students learn tactics, mating patterns, endgames, basic openings and tournament etiquette.

Each session lasts 90 minutes: approximately 45 minutes of theory and 45 minutes of practice. Questions, discussion and shared analysis make the lesson dynamic, clear and enjoyable.

The program also includes tactical puzzle competitions, online training tournaments and simultaneous exhibitions with chess masters, while developing concentration, logical thinking and a sporting attitude toward both victory and defeat.

What do students gain from group chess?

Chess is a game, a sport and an exercise in thinking, but in a group it also becomes a valuable lesson in concentration, discipline and respect for others.

🎲

Chess as a Game

Students learn the rules, the aim of the game and fair play through exercises, games and solving positions together.

🏆

Chess as a Sport

Training develops concentration, preparation, competitive spirit and the habit of earning success through work.

🎨

Chess as an Art

A beautiful combination, a quiet sacrifice or an elegant checkmate helps young players appreciate the beauty of an idea on the chessboard.

🔬

Chess as a Science

Analysis, logic and calculation teach students to look for causes, consequences and the best plan.

📚

Chess as Learning

Regular practice develops concentration, memory, patience, self-control and responsibility for one’s decisions.

🤝

Chess as Character Education

A handshake, calm behaviour at the board and accepting the result in a sporting manner are all part of chess culture.

Training Plan

Every session has a clear theme, a practical task and time for play, because students progress best when they immediately apply what they have learned.

♔

Fundamentals

The board, pieces, check, checkmate, stalemate, castling, promotion, en passant and chess notation.

🎯

Tactics

Double attacks, pins, discovered attacks, mating patterns, combinations and calculation.

🏆

Tournament Preparation

How to play in a tournament, how to use a digital chess clock, how to behave at the board and how to analyze a game.

Who is group training for?

Groups are formed according to age and playing strength so that every student can work at the right pace.

Information for Parents

Group training is the main form of work at Benko Chess: regular online lessons, practical play and gradual integration of new students.

✓

New Student Enrollment

Children and young players can join regardless of previous chess experience. For minors, enrollment is completed by a parent or legal guardian.

◷

Schedule and Language

The current group meets on Wednesdays and Fridays from 19:30 to 21:00, Belgrade time. Lessons are held in Serbian.

↗

Online Work

Classes are held via Microsoft Teams. After enrollment, the student receives all information needed to join the lessons.

Friendship and Social Connection Through Chess

Group training is not only about chess lessons. Students talk, solve exercises together, play training games and meet peers who enjoy the same game.

Because students come from different towns and parts of the country, the online group becomes a place where children connect, practise healthy communication and build friendships through shared work.

Joining, Platforms and Fee

Training includes both theory and practice: chess lessons, exercises, position analysis and training games. Lichess and Chess.com accounts are used for practical work, while new students join the current group with an adapted training program.

The regular group training fee is RSD 3,500 per month.
